Founded in 2016 by filmmaker Joe Bowden, and actor/producer Ashley Song, Desert Island Studios is a mission driven BIPOC owned and operated media production studio, rental facility + co-working space that focuses on supporting underrepresented creatives.

In 2022 Desert Island Studios launched an in house production company/creative agency to serve clients and generate original works. Our production company is focused on producing thoughtful work on safe sets while providing career advancement opportunities and accessible resources to media makers. We prioritize uplifting BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, Persons with Disabilities, and Women on our teams. And, we manage our productions through an open cooperative leadership structure.
